We began the studio practise session by creating six sketchbooks, recording a personal memory as text and as maps of different scales. Drawing the maps from above. My memory was from the time I dropped a ball down my nan's spiral staircase almost falling down when going to collect. In the afternoon session we had to work in collaborative groups to create a piece connecting all our memories together. We had a lot to do with holidays and destinations so decided to do it as if someone was travelling and then going home. We added roads, plans and train tickets to make the piece look even better. Studio Practise For the first sessions we spent time introducing ourselves saying where we were from and making general conversations before being given six post-it notes on which we had to write down words associated with the title of the project 'sense of place' Below are my six: River Ouses: the reason for this is simple both where I live and my home have a Ouse, the one here being the Yorkshire Ouse and the one being the Great River Ouse Town: I currently am in a town which is much large from my local town St Neots Accents: This was a big change for me in moving some accents being heavy so I struggled to understand what was being said. People: Much like home the people here are welcoming and friendly Alcohol : natural as a student a big part of what has been happening the last few weeks Bars: Finding a lot of new ones and same brands here, like revolution.
