Brass Agency Lecture

We were lucky enough to be able to have someone who works for the Brass Agency to come in and talk about there work and recent projects. One project which stood out for me for being innovate was the colouring cafe ad they did for Ribena.

The ad that they create was a huge success, they launched a digital marketing campaign in order to promote their product 'Ribena Light' Brass handles all there digital and social advertisements, in response to the task at hand they team up with an artist called Alex Lucas, a British artist, who's work is characteristically fun animal based illustrations.

The idea was to create 120 tiled illustrations inspired by Ribena. The colouring cafe was a huge success due to the time and effort put into the brand development. The aim was to capture the brand itself in a fun activity which was interactive. The Cafe opened on the 30th June 2016 for one day only in Covent Garden; all people involved in the day were recruited through social media and asked to sign up on the campaign page on Ribena's website.
Brass successfully launched a huge new digital marketing campaign in 2016 to promote Ribena Light. Once completing there tile they then attached it to the wall and returned for the reveal. With the use of projection happy the drawing was brought to life, backed by the recognisable Zobby Doo tune.

Kandinsky's Experiment - Circle, Square, Triangle

Wassily Kandinsky, a student from Bauhaus, circulated a questionnaire trying to determine the universal response for the relationship between colour and form. The questionnaire consisted of three shapes, a triangle, square and circle, he recipient was then to colour each one with a different primary colour etc. Red, blue or yellow.  His questionnaire received a remarkable about of the same response. This may because those in the school had the same theoretical ideals. They believed that the triangle was yellow, square to be red, and the circle to be blue. This product influenced many projects in the early days of Bauhaus. They were also to give an explanation where possible.  I decided to do this myself deciding differently to the Kandinsky original consensus. I felt as if the triangle should be red as this is what most red warning sign are shaped and coloured like. The circle is to be yellow as it re...

Iconography

From the Greek word for 'image' and 'to write' The identification and description of what the image is. WJT Mitchell Iconography is about the rhetoric of images, that is it helps us know....... three different images can all mean the same. Peace: This something that can only be communicated if the artist and the audience share the same background meaning there will be a similar cultural meaning.   Byzantine Portraiture  Using symbols etc to signify more about the person. At this time they moved away from creating photograph-like paintings and used symbols and objects to add more to the painting. For example, the painting below could make you think the man is a shepherd due to the lamb around his neck and the staff. You may also believe the image is related to Christianity because of the cross, moving further we begin to think that may the man in the painting is meant to be a representation of Jesus.  Metaphor  A typ...

AfterEffects - Exploring Geometry

In this workshop we were to explore geometry in relevance to AfterEffects. I chose to use a pink and white colour scheme to begin with but in my second attempt I used a simple black and white, which I believe looks more effective. I learnt the following techniques in the workshop: transitions such as Venetian blinds and how to distort objects. The wiggler was very simple to use once I got the hang of it.  First Attempt - Exploring Geometry from Jade Holmes on Vimeo . Workshop 1 - Second Attempt from Jade Holmes on Vimeo .
