Bridging Theory Task and Practice - Manifesto Task
During the Lecture we looked into
manifestos and briefly touched on First Things First, 2000, during the seminar
we analysed the piece.
First
looking into what is important to me in my studio practice - professionally/
personally/ statistically and in relation to process and practices. In addition
to what is important to you in life?
After
reading through the piece, I realised that a main point which the manifesto
highlights is they believe design can be something more. It is not a job, but
something you need to be passionate about. Designers need to aspire to do more
as they are meant for bigger better things. I agree in the sense there are more
we as designers can do although a balance needs to be made. Advertisement is a
huge part of every society in the world. Imagine London without advertisements?
It would be a whole other place, simple and boring.
We then
moved onto creating our own manifestos, How I would like to work as a graphic
designer:
Passion - key ingredients to being
productive
If i do
not find something interesting, or stimulating I struggle to work efficiently
so therefore I will find and angle to work from every project which interests
me.
Changing
Perceptions -
Making the audience think
The only
way to become successful in what I do is to make my audience want to decode my
work and find meaning. This way it will be memorable.
Influence - Historical, Culture and Social
influence will help me inform my work.
By
researching I will be able to determine if my theories and ideas will work or
if they have been done before.
Re-evaluate- Aiming higher
I can
always do something to improve my work and are it more appealing for its
desired audience.
Typography
-
Always
consider my typeface when working, it can change the feel of any piece
