Postmodernism

Postmodernism is a 20th century concept in art circles which marks the rejection of modernism. It features a lot of earlier style and conventions, in addition to using a different series of media, styles etc. to create something new. The whole purpose is to get people to ask questions, this is something I defiantly like about the movement/concept. 

Above is a piece by Wassily Kandinsky, he was a painter who rejected the values which modernism was based on. Joining the Postmodernism movement his work is expressionism which follows no real form, has no subject or reference. In this piece the viewer can see collection of unorganised shapes, lines which seem to have no actual relevance or meaning. The painting is actually just Kandinsky's representation of his rejection of the modernism movement.

Kandinsky's Experiment - Circle, Square, Triangle

Wassily Kandinsky, a student from Bauhaus, circulated a questionnaire trying to determine the universal response for the relationship between colour and form. The questionnaire consisted of three shapes, a triangle, square and circle, he recipient was then to colour each one with a different primary colour etc. Red, blue or yellow.  His questionnaire received a remarkable about of the same response. This may because those in the school had the same theoretical ideals. They believed that the triangle was yellow, square to be red, and the circle to be blue. This product influenced many projects in the early days of Bauhaus. AfterEffects - Exploring Geometry

In this workshop we were to explore geometry in relevance to AfterEffects. I chose to use a pink and white colour scheme to begin with but in my second attempt I used a simple black and white, which I believe looks more effective. I learnt the following techniques in the workshop: transitions such as Venetian blinds and how to distort objects. Rob Lycett Workshop - Manifesto

For this workshop we had to create our manifesto based on the work we did in a Monday Lecture. The point below are what it based it on. Passion  - key ingredients to being productive  If i do not find something interesting, or stimulating I struggle to work efficiently so therefore I will find and angle to work from every project which interests me.  Changing Perceptions  - Making the audience think  The only way to become successful in what I do is to make my audience want to decode my work and find meaning.
